Sharon Oliver - Boatshed Cambridgeshire
Well ship ahoy matey’s. It’s lovely to meet you. My name is Sharon and I love being part of the Boatshed family.
After semi-retiring earlier in the year, I couldn’t believe my luck when a business opportunity presented itself that combines both my love of boating and my passion for customer service. Of course being involved with such a professional organisation had great appeal too. Boatshed’s innovative and successful full service brokerage was already on my radar, as friends had either bought or sold their boats through them. So I think it was fate that I should end up with this great company.
I have lived and worked abroad for many years, mainly in South Africa where I was in the hotel & casino industry. I was most privileged to be involved in some of the exciting events held at Sun City, such as The Million Dollar Golf Challenge, The Miss World Pageants, and Charity Concerts with big stars like Elton John, Rod Stewart & Queen.
I was never far from water though and loved my time in Cape Town & Knysna. Perhaps the fact that I am an Aquarian explains that!
I now live in St Neots, Cambridgeshire with my husband Graham and our spoilt cat Millie. We love sailing, particularly around the Greek Isles and I recently passed my Competent Crew course and my hubby got his Day Skipper License, so we plan on clocking up many more hours at sea.
We currently have a Maxum 24 which we love taking along the River Great Ouse, meandering through the stunning countryside. I think we have covered most of its 75 miles. The River Ouse offers boaters an extensive range of waterways with its many tributaries that allow you to explore the towns and villages. You can get on the Lark, Cam and Little Ouse. A trip on the Old West to Ely is a great cruise over a long weekend. We also love the Norfolk Broads and had an Elysian 27 on there for 6 years.
I am a wildlife fanatic, I am always photographing wild birds and their babies along the river and I buy environmentally friendly Swan & Duck food and you can often find me in the parks feeding the birds and enjoying the river in all of its glory.
I love the seasons on the river, especially the autumnal colours when the trees turn Red & Amber. I am really looking forward to helping you spend many happy years boating in this wonderful area, so do please get in touch if I can help in any way.
