Contessa shows off her jewels on the Isle of Wight with Boatshed
True to its commitment to sell more boats faster than traditional yacht brokers, Boatshed has just completed the sale of a Contessa 32 through its Isle of Wight brokerage office – inside 12 days.
The Contessa 32 received 667 views on the Boatshed website in 12 days
'The Contessa 32 is probably one of the best known and best loved offshore cruising boats there is' says Corinne Gillard Boatshed Isle of Wight. 'They have an iconic quality that is rightly earned.'
Corinne admitted that she is an avid C32 fan and – while this particular model was a 1977 vintage – it was exactly as she likes to find them: smart, sleek and well maintained by her knowledgeable owners.
First choice for boat sales
‘Knowing my love for and experience with this class, Boatshed was the perfect fit for the owner to advertise the boat with us,’ added Corinne. ‘And when priced sensibly, a good Contessa 32 will always attract attention’.
To support the listing on the Boatshed website, more than 120 images of the yacht, one VR and one video were added to the comprehensive description and specifications shown on the Contessa’s web page.
The listing on Boatshed’s website included more than 120 images.
But it was the behind-the-scenes activity that also played a major part in how the sale took place in less than 12 days.
Boatshed’s proprietary software – unique in the brokerage industry – uses algorithms to track the viewings of potential buyers on its website and intuitively makes recommendations according to their requirements.
'There was no doubt about the level of interest for this particular boat. 58 of our online subscribers viewed the listing more than twice – and 25 subscribers viewed five times or more.' says Corinne.
When Boatshed’s system alerted the prospective purchaser to the listing, there was no hesitation in moving forward with the sale.
‘Both the buyer and the vendor are professional mariners; one active and one retired’ added Corinne. ‘The buyer appreciated the way that the vendor had maintained the Contessa – and commented that the quality of information we provided online made his decision to buy an easy one. When he came to view the boat at the marina, he knew exactly what he expected to find.
‘The vendor welcomed the no-nonsense approach in how the offer was made and proceeded to the sale and we’ve received really good feedback from both parties.’
So, is the 12-day sale a record for Boatshed?
‘I’d have to check on that,’ said Corinne coyly. ‘But then we’re not in the business of breaking records. Much more important is our ability and reputation for bringing boats and people together – and that’s what we’re really good at.’
